(as of October 14, 2024)
Hello Future Aztecs,
Our tryouts for the 2025-2026 season will be hosted by invitation only. Each prospective athlete must submit a video with the requirements listed below no later than April 1st, 2025. Each candidate will be notified on or before April 5th, if they receive an invite to attend tryouts. At that time, those who receive an invitation to tryouts will receive a tryout packet to complete via email. In person tryouts will be held May 8th, 9th & 10th.
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS
Please email videos to jllong@sdsu.edu. To ensure that the entire video comes through please send it via a YouTube link or Vimeo.
All applicants need to also send a copy of their acceptance letter or appeal confirmation.
For tryout videos, we ask that all candidates be in full game day. This means full make-up and hair for females and clean shaven for the males. Examples of Game Day are as follows:
Please start your video by introducing yourself with your first and last name and what grade you are in currently and then answer the following questions.
How did you become a cheerleader?
What is your cheerleading experience and where do you cheer currently?
Why do you want to cheer at SDSU?
What strong qualities do you think you can bring to the team?
What else would you like us to know about you?
If you make the SDSU Cheer program, will you be attending SDSU? Or are you considering attending other universities?
This question is being asked purely so that we can adjust our numbers for the selection process.
